Trees
It is really quite tricky to present family trees in the traditional style for more than one or two generations as they grow sideways very quickly.
The trees below start with Eli Harger, who was born in Elland in 1686. He was the start of this grouping of Hargers in Settle; there are indications of the name Harger in the Settle area before this, but a link has not been established. He married Ann Brayshaw in 1727 in Giggleswick. The tree comes forward in outline (most branch/sibling is provided but not followed) until Joseph Harger (born 1809 in Settle) from when all the descendants are known and documented to the present. The trees stop with the 1880s born generation of Hargers as that circumscribes the last named Hargers in Settle. The final remaining Harger (of the descendants of Robert Harger, born 1775) in Settle was probably Mary Ellen Harger (known as Polly) who died in 1947. Information on the descendants of the above Joseph Harger after the trees stop is documented and available on request: there are few in Settle, and none named Harger, although there are at present three direct male Hargers descendants of Robert Harger (b. 1775) in existence elsewhere.
